KARACHI: The Chinese government has sent 89 tonnes of cargo carrying 2,000 tents for the flood victims of Pakistan. A special cargo plane landed at the Karachi airport on Sunday and Chinese Commercial Counsellor Wang Qihui received the consignment and handed it over to the officials of the Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
According to the Chinese officials, their government has already delivered relief goods worth $50 million for the flood victims. Last week a consignment of 1,500 tents was delivered to the PDMA. The Chinese were also running a field hospital at Makli in Thatta and treating over 600 - 700 patients every day, an official of the consulate said.
